Abroad Directors Can Now Comment on the Quality of Students this Year

MALIBU, CA - It’s at that point in the semester where abroad program directors can now rate the quality of their current student group.

“It’s tough,” the London program director commented. “Some years are just better than others. At least you know you don’t have to be with the same group forever, though. There’s always hope for next year. God forbid any of the students from the last three years come back to visit after they graduate.”

When surveyed, all program directors did indicate that they have groups of students that they view more and less favorably. Some program directors, like those of Lausanne, Shanghai, and BA, preferred students to be friendly towards the administration. Other programs reported that they prefer clear boundaries between faculty and students.

“The students are great for occasional entertainment, but I’m a 35-year-old man with family, I don’t want to be friends with a bunch of 19-year-olds that slap my face on a meme and share it on Facebook,” visiting faculty from the Lausanne program reported.

While some programs complain of having to write reports of rogue students, the faculty in the Heidelberg program have a different approach.

“This year’s group has made it especially difficult to brush their infractions under the rug,” Heidelberg faculty commented. “We usually get some troublemakers, but this year we are really working our asses off here in the administration to cover up activities that are definitely not Pepperdine approved.”

The overwhelming majority of faculty surveyed across the programs stated that this year’s group of students were “mediocre”.
