MALIBU, CA - This past spring break multiple groups of Pepperdine students traveled to different corners of the world to conduct community service.
"Project Serve is a unique opportunity. It's one of the few times Pepperdine students actually freely receive and freely give!" a spokesperson from the Pepperdine Volunteer Center applauded. Many enthusiastic students agreed.
"Before I went to Hawaii I was only freely receiving at Pepperdine. I was blessed with outstanding tuition, copious parking, and life-changing convocation experiences... but something vital was missing. I decided to dedicate my spring break to freely giving, and after picking up two bagfulls of garbage, taking some instagram selfies, and petting a stray dog I could finally see my inner brokenness. Project Serve was much more rewarding than drinking Tequila on the beaches of Cabo!" junior Molly Smith, 21, explained.
The Pepperdine Volunteer Center is beginning to discuss some potential new missions, including a local program where students would water a garden and trim palm trees at Beyonce's house. Some Pepperdine donors have even hinted that future participants might be awarded with convocation credit for their week of service.
